It's November--there's a chill in the air and the scent of pumpkin spice seems to be everywhere.
It's also National Novel Writing Month--the annual online fiction-writing marathon in which people all around the world try to write 50,000 words during this month. Yes, 50,000!
It can be a wild ride if you want to give it a try. Back in 2008 I wrote a mish mash of 50,000 unusable words. I couldn't make that into an actual novel, but I did have fun and I made a very good friend who I am still in touch with today. I know several people who can and do reliably write that much every November. More power to them!
You can also join in and do some writing for fun without worrying about how many words you ultimately come up with. There's even a young writer program for kids.
For those of you who are writing--good luck!
