I recently decided to cancel my Facebook page. So that will be happening soon. I don't use it much anymore. The Thinking Ink Press Facebook page will still be there. I'm on Twitter, and of course here at my author site.
For those of you who don't know, I'm one of the founders of Thinking Ink Press. We're small: we publish one or two books a year. Recently, I ran a Kickstarter campaign for a funny sci fi book by a new author that we're planning to publish. It went really well, so we're set to move forward with publishing The Hereafter Bytes by Vincent Scott. It was a bit of a wild ride since we launched the second week in March, but supporters came through and backed the campaign beyond my expectations. Thanks again to everyone who backed or supported this campaign by spreading the word! If you're interested in learning more about my crowdfunding exprerience, you can check out my guest post On Crowdfunding in Publishing at Armed with a Book. Thinking about working on a joint writing project or maybe even co-authoring a book?
I co-authored my last three books. The experience can be wonderful if you're sure it's what you want. Check out my guest blog post Collaborating and Co-authoring at the lovely book review site, Armed with a Book. P.S. If you enjoy reading challenges, check out their Armed with a Bingo event! Lately, I've been working on a book I started writing about total hip replacement with a focus on young THR. It's a niche, but I like writing niche books.
I'm happy to announce that I was interviewed about the picture book Tiger Livy along with my co-author Erin Garcia on the Child Life On Call podcast. Katie Taylor is a wonderful host--It was a pleasure talking to her.
To listen to the podcast, click here. I hope you enjoy it! That's an interesting question, and one that led me to start listening to The Bad Writer's Podcast, hosted by Rebecca Fisher. Among other things, Rebecca likes to talk about when writers break rules and why. Is that being a bad writer? Or are there times when it's the right thing to do?
Rebecca was kind enough to have me as a guest on The Bad Writer's Podcast, Episode 10. In the first part of this episode, we learn that Rebecca loves animals and takes care of stray cats. My interview starts about 10 minutes into the podcast. It was fun talking about a variety of writing-related topics. Can you guess which rule I'm most inclined to break? You can listen to the show at PodBean, Apple, or Spotify. I hope you enjoy it! Just for fun, here's a picture of Mittens who often hangs out in a patch of sunshine in my home office. Sometimes if I get up and come back, I'll find that she's made herself at home in my office chair.
Here are the next two reviews--for Cast Life, A Parent's Guide to DDH and The Happy Hips Guide to Teen & Young Adult Hip Dysplasia. To read the reviews at the International Hip Dysplasia Institute website, click here.
As some of you know, I've been involved with the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) for a number of years. I recently started guest posting book reviews. Two more just went live on their website. To read my reviews for A Guide for Adults with Hip Dysplasia and Anatomy Riot, click here.
I just started reviewing books about hip dysplasia for the International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IDHI). There are quite a few now, which makes me happy! When I wrote The Parents' Guide to Hip Dysplasia I couldn't find any books—just medical journal articles. My first book review is for Hope, the "Hip" Hippo by Gina Jay and Julie Beattie, illustrated by Cheri Turner. You can my book review here. For those of you who don't already know, I'm on the Advisory Committee for the IDHI, which is a nonprofit organization. I've helped them out in various ways over the years
